About the Book
After I handed The Everything Music Theory Book in, I was approached by a student to revisit one of my older books called The Efficient Guitarist. TEG was a collection of computer-generated scale and chord sheets. I was simply tired of writing out scales for each student or photocopying sheets that would eventually get lost. Over the course of a weekend, it developed into a 56 page book on scales and chords. It was never meant to be a method, as I would teach the method in lessons. It was a great resource for lessons, but useless for anyone who didn’t have me to teach the basic methodology of the book. Plus, all the information was in Adobe Illustrator format, so it wasn’t easy to edit and change.
In comes my student, a retired finance guy and Ph.D. Mathematician telling me about a language called LaTeX that he wrote his thesis in; a language he thought we could develop a new, much more expanded work in. He was right and this light refresh ended up being a complete rewrite of the book. It’s over 100 pages, filled with prose and beautiful chord and scale charts. Out of all the books I’ve written, I’m the most proud of The Efficient Guitarist. It’s the first of several volumes of The Efficient Guitarist. At this time, only the Efficient Guitarist Book I has been published. Click here for a short PDF sample of the book. Or you can click here to buy the book.
